Movie Preview

June 24th, 2010 by ross

Hey there, wanted to give you a peak at what I’ve been working on…it’s a glimpse into an early scene of the True2Life movie.  It’s really how we passed the parental consent law in Ohio!  Let me know what you think!

INT. RESTAURANT - CONTINUOUS

Janet’s boyfriend MARC beaming with pride as he waits for Janet to join him and his parents for a celebration dinner.

MARC’S DAD

My son “the partner.” Congratulations.

MARC’S MOTHER:

I’m so proud of you!  Where’s Janet?  Shouldn’t she be here to celebrate your success?

MARC

(looking at his watch)

She’ll be here.

INT. STATEHOUSE CHAMBER — MOMENTS LATER

REP. JIM JORDAN

Madam Speaker, move to amend.

There is a hush among the House members.  Jim is recognized.

REP. JIM JORDAN

I move that this bill be amended to include a requirement for parents to give their consent prior to the performance of an abortion on an unemancipated minor under the age of 18.

REP. JOAN RECUS

This “Parental Consent” amendment is absolutely outrageous.  There hasn’t been a single hearing on this bill!  And to suggest that a parent should have any say whatsoever over what their daughter does with her own body is a blatant violation of her rights!

REP JIM JORDAN

You’re against Parental Consent?  You sponsored the bill requiring parents to consent before a child can get a tattoo.  And now you’re against parental consent before they can have an abortion?  Isn’t that just a little inconsistent?

Ron Hood looks up to Janet in the Balcony and looks for her signal.

REP. RON HOOD

(mouthing in an exaggerated fashion)

Nooowwww???

INT. STATEHOUSE BALCONY — CONTINUOUS

JANET

(mouthing back, nodding)

Nooowww.

INT. STATEHOUSE CHAMBER — CONTINUOUS

The colorful “Tattoo Flyers” listing 87/99 legislators who voted for Parental Consent before a minor could get a tattoo (each with a temporary tattoo attached) are handed out to all the House members.

The atmosphere moves from hostility to levity.  Legislators look around to see what tattoo their colleagues got, while others roll up their sleeves to put theirs on.  All look for their name to see how they voted.

INT. STATEHOUSE BALCONY — CONTINUOUS

Janet’s parents and staff look on in amazement.  The vote is cast; and the board fills up with green “yes” votes.  Janet’s phone vibrates, and she turns it off.

INT. RESTAURANT — CONTINUOUS

MARC:

(on cell phone)

Janet?  I’m going to go ahead and order your favorite.  Please hurry!

He looks apologetically at his parents.

MARC’S MOM

It’s not like this is the first time she’s done this to you.  And now that it’s your big day, she’s nowhere to be found.

MARC

She’s got a very demanding job.

MARC’S MOM

More like a “cause.”  She’s gonna need to shift her priorities if this thing is ever going to go anywhere.

MARC

(looking for support)

Dad?

MARC’S DAD

Don’t look at me; I’ve got my own “cause.”

(Motioning to his wife with his eyes)

But I will say, because you asked, since you won’t be spending those long hours at the office trying to make partner, you might want someone who has some time for you.

Welcome to my blog!

June 17th, 2010 by ross

Let me start by thanking all those who have prayed for and supported Faith2Action.  You have helped make possible many of the things we have done together over the years, including the Presidential debate in 2007, the How to Take Back America conference last fall, and the Israel Friendship Project this spring, in which 30,000 yellow roses were sent to encourage Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the people of Israel.

Thanks also to all those who have contributed through your time, prayer, and financial support to May Day.  God was honored that day.  We were blessed with a beautiful, warm day, safety in travel, and no major technical or security problems.  All of these things were answers to prayer.  There were also scores of people (that we know about) who humbly prayed for Jesus to become their Savior and Lord that day.  Praise God!  The overall attendance was in the thousands, and viewership in the millions, but whether it was enough to withhold God’s judgment and give our nation another chance remains to be seen.  We obeyed God and stood in the gap, the results are up to Him.

While we are no longer airing our daily radio program, the good news is that the 60-second daily Faith2Action commentaries will be back up and running this month, thanks to our partners at the American Family Association. They have agreed to produce and air them on their American Family Radio (AFR) network at 1:15 p.m. Eastern (12:15 p.m. Central), along with the Bott Radio Network, and others.

We are also in pre-production of “True 2 Life the Movie.”  It’s a true romantic comedy that includes my work in Ohio to pass the nation’s first ban on partial-birth abortion.  You’ll hear more about that in upcoming entries!

Standing and working together to ensure our freedom to proclaim the Gospel and speak the truth is more important than ever before.  Faith2Action has stood in the gap for America.  Now, we need you to stand with us!  Please make a much needed donation with the reply envelope provided, or if you’d like to donate by credit cared, you can do so at www.f2a.org or by calling my assistant, Kristin Saunders, at 502-4ACTION (502-422-8466).  God bless you as you put your faith to action!

New Blog Entries by Janet!

We’re re-launching the blog area on the F2A website. This time, F2A President Janet (Folger) Porter will be posting entries here periodically to keep you update on what’s she doing and how you can most effectively put your faith into action!

Teacher Problems

February 18th, 2010 by ross

We‘ve listened to those who have expelled God from school.  What has it gotten us? Take a look at where we’ve come in the last 40 years.

Teachers were asked to name their biggest problems. Prior to 1962, when prayer was taken out of schools, (they were) talking, chewing gum, making noise, and the dreaded running in the halls.  After prayer was taken out, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, arson, bombing, and murder.

We’ve certainly come a long way – in the wrong direction.   What’s the answer?  Students have the freedom to bring your Bible to school, to meet with other students for prayer, Bible study, and worship, and to share your faith on campus. No, students do not lose your First Amendment rights when you walk through the door of the public school classroom.

Religion of War

February 17th, 2010 by ross

It’s a religion of peace.

That’s what the politically correct crowd repeats constantly about Islam.  They often proceed to say that it has been hijacked by a tiny minority of extremists.

However, the truth is that the only peace related to this religion will come when everyone is Muslim or at least subject to the Islamic state.  To establish this peace, the Qur’an and other writings by Muhammed are very clear.  Muslims must wage jihad - holy war - to achieve such a peace.   There simply are no books written in Arabic on a “peaceful Islam.”

This doesn’t mean that every Muslim is a terrorist or plotting the downfall of the United States.   We should not despise or engage in acts of violence against any Muslim.  But, we must recognize and deal with the danger that our nation faces with Islam.

Magnetic Cows

February 16th, 2010 by ross

Cows are pointing us toward God’s incredible design.

You may reasonably ask, how so?  Well, researchers have recently looked at thousands of images of cows in 308 pasture plains across the globe.   And the cows have something in common.  Whether grazing or resting, they tend to align their bodies in a north-south direction, in line with earth’s magnetic field.  Enough images have been examined to rule out wind or sun as what influences them to do this.

Cows aren’t the only animals that seem to have a built-in compass.  A study of deer in the Czech Republic found that most of them tend to face either north or south.   Birds, bats, salmon, turtles, and even African mole rats are also able to align themselves or navigate based on some type of internal compass.

We are only beginning to understand the greatness of everything God has designed!

Nuclear Green

February 12th, 2010 by ross

Green energy.

It’s something that the environmentalists are pushing everywhere.  Some think that large solar panels, wind power, or ethanol are the answer.   However, they’re missing what is probably the cleanest, greenest form of alternative energy and that’s nuclear power.

Stuart Butler of the Heritage Foundation points out that there are no belching smokestacks or polluting gases.  There is also very little land use to produce nuclear energy.  It seems hard to believe, but he says that “if you used nuclear power for your entire lifetime needs, the resulting waste would only be enough fill a Coke can.”

While nuclear may be not be the solution for every energy need, it’s a very good, green, and increasingly safe alternative that our leaders should be pursuing.

Links Still Missing

February 11th, 2010 by ross

Missing links.  Gaps in the fossil record.

Charles Darwin devoted two chapters in his book On The Origin of Species to his serious concern about these matters.   Here are a few of his words: “Why then is not every geological formation and every stratum full of such intermediate links?  …This, perhaps, is the most obvious and gravest objection which can be urged against my theory.”

The fact is those gaps still exist. The links are still missing.    With all of the increased knowledge that we have from years of drilling and exploration, geologists have a rock record full of gaps.   And the fossil evidence simply doesn’t support the drawings that are in countless textbooks and museums.

Evolutionists treat Darwin’s theory as something holy and it is!  It’s full of holes!

Civics Lesson

February 10th, 2010 by ross

The three branches of our government.

A civics lesson can’t get much more basic than that.  And yet, a new study of 2,500 American adults age 25 or older shows that only 49 percent of the people could name all three.  For anyone listening who doesn’t know, the three branches are the legislative, executive, and judicial.

Those who claimed to have a Bachelor’s degree only scored an average of 57 percent on a basic test of American history, government, and economics.  That’s a failing grade in almost any classroom.  It also seems unbelievable that among those who have held some form of public office, 27 percent could not name even one right or freedom guaranteed by the First Amendment.

As a nation, if we don’t start learning these things again, our freedoms will be lost and many will not even know that they’re missing!
